ideaSpace West (Entrepreneurship Centre)

How they describe themselves

“A community of founders and entrepreneurs across 3 great locations in Cambridge. Each office has attractive facilities, a vibrant community and a supportive working environment.”

Notes from Startup Signpost

ideaSpace West is on one of the University of Cambridge sites, but you don’t need to be linked to the university to choose this as your base. Their focus is on early stage-startups, reflected by the fact that the offering is around desks (both hot-desking and dedicated desks) rather than offices. There’s definitely that early-stage energy to be found here, and it’s a very stylish setting. Transport options can be tricky, though (see below).

Workspace options

  • Hot-desking

  • Dedicated desks

Facilities

  • Reception desk

  • Cafe (Hauser Forum)

  • Bike parking

  • Meeting rooms

  • Shower facilities

  • 24/7 access

Getting there

ideaSpace West does not have any car parking. You can park at Madingley Road Park & Ride and walk (15mins) or take the bus. The Park & Ride bus only gets you about half of the way to ideaSpace, but the Universal bus stops very near by.

There’s plenty of bike parking on the site, and that’s clearly the focus.

The aforementioned Park & Ride and Universal buses travels out from central Cambridge, so if you’re coming from the city centre, that might be a good option.
